Act of launching the operationalization of the Sanitary District in Equatorial Guinea

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Diosdado Vicente Nsue Milang, today inaugurated the operationalization of the Health District in Equatorial Guinea. The event was held at the Baney District Administrative Complex, a pilot test of the project for its subsequent extension – in different phases – to the rest of the country.

“The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare concluded in 2019 an analysis of the situation of the National Health System that allowed it to detect its weaknesses and shortcomings. The Sanitary District intends to solve them and give them a solution ”, explained Diosdado Vicente Nsue Milang.

The operationalization of the Health District is part of the National Health Development Plan (PNDS, 2021-2025) and its main objective is to improve the provision of health services throughout the national territory. The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has 6 district health plans in place in Baney, Kogo, Acurenam, Aconibe, Nsok-Nzomo and Annobón that will serve as a model for the implementation of the PNDS at the operational level.

The mission of the PNDS is to provide Equatorial Guinea with a powerful and resilient health system capable of guaranteeing universal access to quality health services and an optimal state of health to sustain the durability of economic growth and national development.
